Starting to record a trip is an easy, fun way to dive deeper into nature and tell your story. Going way above-and-beyond a traditional GPS, Natural Atlas lets your capture your next hike in way that makes if feel like you are in nature again when you look back on it.

Prepare For Your Trip

Before heading out, either download or print a map of the area so you are prepared if there is no cell service.

Start Recording

When at the trailhead:

  1. Press the “+” Button in bottom right corner of app, then press “Start Trip”.
  2. Choose the activity you are starting (hiking, kayaking, foraging, …)

This will start mapping your path on the map, which is great for staying oriented. This will also start showing you useful stats about your journey like distance, average speed, elevation gain, etc.

Make Discoveries

Keep an eye out for anything that sparks your interest, and if you find something you want to capture, take a field note.

Nature is full of all sorts of interesting variety at every turn. Coming across something unexpected, like an animal or interesting rock formation, is what makes nature so captivating – and Natural Atlas gives you the best tools for capturing these enchanting experiences.

Finish Trip

When you get back to your car, simply press the “Finish Recording” button to stop your trip. When you are connected the internet, the trip will sync to your public profile on naturalatlas.com, and automatically get added to the map of ecosystems you have explored. Your field notes will also get featured on your profile and will be automatically be organized by classification
