Brooker Pond is on land owned at one time by Rev. John Brooker (born 1780 and died 1858). The land is still owned by his descendants. He was instrumental in establishing Double Pond Baptist Church and donated the land from his plantation for the church. He and his son, Rev. William Brooker, at various times, served as pastor at Double Pond Baptist.
