Wispy 100+ Foot Waterfall in Rugged Canyon
Waterfall
in
Bighorn NF
,
Rocky Mountains
near
Kane
,
WY
Porcupine Falls is one of the tallest waterfalls in the
Bighorn Mountains
, only dwarfed by nearby
Bucking Mule Falls
. The base of the waterfall is accessible by the 0.5 mile trail starting from
Porcupine Falls Trailhead
.
According to description of the falls at
Jaws Trailhead
, in the late 1930s miners built a diversion tunnel through the mountain, hoping to empty the pool to search for gold. The tunnel remains.
