Kieps Island Dike Trail
A Peaceful and Easy Trail Surrounded by the Bluffs and Backwaters of the Upper Mississippi River
Trail

Trempealeau National Wildlife Refuge
near
Trempealeau

WI
It’s an easy 2-mile hike over flat ground to the end of the trail and back. You’re apt to hear singing birds in the trees, see waterfowl, and be surprised by the occasional splash of a feeding fish. About twice an hour a freight train will pass the end of the trail. The park is open from dawn to dusk, so I was able to enjoy the sunset before returning.
