Uncle Tom’s Trailhead

A Quick but Strenuous Hike to See a Beautiful Falls

Trailhead on Yellowstone River, Cascade Creek on Uncle Tom’s Trail in Yellowstone NP, Rocky Mountains near Canyon Village, WY

The hike to the waterfall lookout from Uncle Tom’s trailhead is popular, but not for everyone. The trail consists primarily of steep metal steps leading you to a lookout that’s not as close to the falls as some guidebooks may lead you to believe. Still a great chance to see a huge, beautiful waterfall up close if you don’t have a ton of time.

Important Note: Uncle Tom’s Trail is closed until construction projects are completed. As of 2021, the re-opening date is uncertain.
