Yellowstone Flood of 2022
From June 10th to June 13th, heavy rain and melting snowcaps caused massive flooding in the north area of the park.
The flood washed away the Rescue Creek Trail’s bridge over the Gardner River. The National Park Service (NPS) plans to “construct a replacement Rescue Creek Trail pedestrian bridge that provides access across the Gardner River. The project includes the removal of the original bridge foundation that was washed away during a flood event in 2022. The new bridge will be located approximately 100 feet upstream of the previous bridge location.” On March 12, 2025 the EPA published the NPS project for public comment with comments due April 10, 2025.
