Fisher Creek trail starts at Forest Road spur 750, elevation about 2700 feet. It crosses the creek on an "interesting" log bridge (see picture, taken in 2012), and then follows the creek valley through an impressive old-growth Douglas fir forest. About two miles from the trailhead, the path crosses Fisher Creek again but (as of 2012) there is no bridge. In spring and early summer, the creek flows strongly enough to make this crossing problematic for some hikers. On the other side, the trail begins to climb out of the creek valley. It gains about 1800 feet before reaching the junction with the Winchester Lake trail, at 4800 feet.
