Ernie Strum Trailhead
Easy-to-Miss Trail Off West Rosebud Road
Trailhead
on
Ernie Strum Trail
in
Rocky Mountains
near
Roscoe
,
MT
Constructed in 2014, the Ernie Strum Trail is a relatively new addition to the rural
Fishtail, MT
area. The trail starts out on BLM land and then enters State Land a little less than halfway to
Lily Pad Lake
. On the first ridge is
a tranquil memorial
to Ernie Strum who was the visionary of the trail – working for 15 years to make it happen
[1]
. Two log benches overlook valleys on either side. The trailhead itself is very easy to miss, as there’s only a small sign on the edge of the road. There is no official parking, but there is enough shoulder on the road to find a spot to park.
