Ash Swale Shelter
Primitive Shelter in the Cascade Foothills
Shelter
in
Willamette NF
,
Cascade Range
near
Lowell
,
OR
This wooden shelter was originally a stop on the trail used to supply lookout posts at Eagles Rest and Hardesty Mountain. It was rebuilt in 1999 by volunteers and the Forest Service. The reconstruction follows the Adirondack style of the original with a "saltbox" roof. The shelter has a dirt floor with a wooden sleeping platform at the back. It is accessed from the Eagles Rest trail.
