At nearly 200 feet wide, this weathering pit is one of the largest of its kind in the world. An ancient meandering water source likely carved the initial shape, which was then enhanced by sand and wind over a long period of time while the landscape around it changed drastically. What remains today is a constantly shifting pool of sand around the unique rock "island".
