Taxonomy

Recorded notes and trips on Natural Atlas can be classified according of over 1.7 million different types of things ranging from plants, rocks and minerals, landforms, to animals. Several parts of the taxonomy are an adaption of open source lists by other organizations.

The Natural Atlas Topo is built from an aggregation of open source GIS data from numerous government and non-profit organizations that we then normalize, clean up, and add to.
