Pulsatilla occidentalis (species), “Mountain Pasqueflower”, “Western Anemone”, “White Pasqueflower”, “Hippie-on-a-Stick”

Western Pasqueflower, also known as Anemone occidentalis, is a yellow & white flower that grows in gravel soils in the Western United States shortly after snowmelt. After flowering, the the Western Pasqueflower exhibits distinctive silky plumes that also give rise to its colloquial names of “Hippie-on-a-Stick”, “Mouse-on-a-Stick”, “Mop Top”, “Old Man of the Mountain” and a few others.
