General Lee Tree

Giant Sequoia in Giant Forest on Alta Trail, Congress Trail in Sequoia NP, Sierra Nevada near Three Rivers, CA
The General Lee Tree is a giant sequoia located in the Giant Forest grove of Sequoia National Park. It was named by Sequoia National Park concessionaire John Broder in honor of Confederate Army General Robert E. Lee in 1901. The United Daughters of the Confederacy formally dedicated the tree as “General Lee” on July 1, 1937.
General Lee should not to be confused with the “Robert E. Lee” Tree of Grant Grove in Kings Canyon National Park.
