The Diabase And Conglomerate Uplands ecoregion is characterized by wooded, stony, hills and steep ridges that are composed of highly resistant igneous (diabase), heat-altered sedimentary rock, or sedimentary rock. Crestal elevations are typically 300-1,150 feet (91-351 m), but in the Conewago Mountains, they rise to about 1,300 feet (396 m). Local relief varies substantially from a minimum of about 50 feet to a maximum of 650 feet (15-198 m).
