A set of stairs leads from the parking lot down to Inspiration Point - a viewpoint of the
Grand Canyon of Yellowstone
at the end of a spur off of North Rim Drive. Compared to nearby Lookout Point and
Artist Point
across the canyon, Inspiration Point is less dramatic, but it still offers great views on the rhyolite walls lining the canyon.

On Wikipedia
Inspiration Point is a promontory cliff on the north rim of the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone east of Yellowstone Falls on the Yellowstone River in Yellowstone National Park. The point was originally named Promontory Point in 1878 by W. H. Holmes but later given the name of Inspiration Point by G.L. Henderson, a park concessionaire in 1887. The point is a natural observation point over the rim of the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone.

Before the earthquake on June 30, 1975, the observation platform extended one hundred feet father into the canyon. The main tremor and numerous aftershocks measuring 6.1 on the Richter scale shattered a portion of this cliff, tumbling it into the gorge.
