Nearly a thousand years ago, prehistoric people known as the Hohokam built a small village perched above you on the hilltop ridge. Follow the trail to the site to enjoy a glimpse of the remnants of the distinctive homes that existed long before Columbus. Sears-Kay Ruin is one of a series of hilltop villages located between Phoenix and the mountains to the north. The ruins you see are the remains of about 40 rooms in five separate walled buildings called compounds. The site has been known since before the turn of the century. It was discovered in 1867 by soldiers from Camp McDowell visiting the area on patrol.
