The Midway Geyser Basin Trail is a ½ mile long boardwalk that features some of Yellowstone’s largest hot springs:  Grand Prismatic Spring and  Excelsior Geyser Crater. It is hard to fully take in the scale or grandeur of Grand Prismatic Springs from ground level, but it is still impressive and allows you to see the bright orange bacterial mats up-close.For a more birds-eye view of Grand Prismatic Spring (with a longer walk) you can take the new Grand Prismatic Spring Overlook Trail which opened in July 2017. The overlook trail begins from the Fairy Falls Trailhead.
