Visual Characteristics

Amanita aprica has a yellow top that can be slightly orange near its center. The frosty, translucent appearance of the veil remnants helps differentiate aprica from other similar-looking amanitas like muscaria and gemmata (which are more distinctively studded).

History

Before aprica was defined in 2005 by Rod Tulloss and Jan Lindgren, aprica specimens were grouped-in with gemmata, muscaria, and breckonii.
