The glaciated Wenatchee/Chelan Highlands ecoregion is characterized by mountains and ridges, tarns, Ushaped valleys, and dissected high-gradient streams. Leeward climatic conditions prevail. Douglas-fir, grand fir, and subalpine fir are common; lodgepole pine and Englemann spruce also occur. Average precipitation ranges from only 15 to about 40 inches per year.
