In Idaho, the Wallowas/Seven Devils Mountains ecoregion ranges in elevation from about 4,000 to 9,200 feet. Lowest elevations support a dry forest community. Douglas-fir and ponderosa pine forests are widespread and have a shrub understory. Streams follow fault lines, have steep gradients and have eroded deep canyons. Land uses include grazing, logging, recreation, and wildlife habitat.
