In contrast to the woodlands of Ecoregion 79b at lower elevations, above about 6500 feet are the Madrean Pine-Oak and Mixed Conifer Forests. The region includes ponderosa pine-oak forests, ponderosa pine forests, montane fir forests, and mixed conifer forests.
