The Hualapai/Coconino Woodlands ecoregion occurs south of the Grand Canyon on the higher elevation, higher relief portions of the Hualapai and Coconino plateaus. Elevations are mostly 4200 to 6700 feet, with annual precipitation ranging from 11 to 23 inches. Although there are similarities to Ecoregion 22x to the north, this region has less sagebrush except in the more northern portions. Vegetation typically includes Utah juniper, pinyon pine, singleleaf pinyon, Stansbury cliffrose, blue grama, black grama, and muttongrass. In the west, some turbinella oak occurs. Primary land uses include livestock grazing, woodland for fuelwood and pinyon nut gathering, and wildlife habitat.
