This rustic hut is available by reservation only for wilderness skiers who travel to Pear Lake in winter. Pear Lake Winter Hut is managed by the Sequoia Parks Conservancy. The hut sits high above Lodgepole at an elevation of 9,200 feet. Six strenuous miles on skis or snowshoes get you to its ten bunkbeds and wood-pellet stove. For reservations and more information, visit the Sequoia Parks Conservancy's website. Pear Lake Winter Hut is set to open on Dec. 15, 2017. Reservation lottery forms are now available at www.exploresequoiakingscanyon.com. The lottery will be held Nov. 6th and remaining space will become available on a first-come, first-served basis.
