On Wikipedia
Dunderberg Mill is a ghost town located in Mono County, California on Dunderberg Creek 10.5 miles (17 km) south of Bridgeport, at an elevation of 8609 feet (2624 m). Two versions are current on how the place got its name: first, that it was named after the Union Navy man-of-war USS Dunderberg, and second, that it was named from the nearby Dunderberg Mine. Dunderberg is a Swedish word meaning "thunder mountain."
