Named After
California Condor
Recommended Months
Jan–Apr
This site, along with Navajo Bridge, are two great locations to view the largest bird in North America: the California Condor. On top of the Vermilion Cliffs, 6 to 10 condors are released annually because the craggy cliffs provides ideal nesting habitat for the endangered species. Winter and spring months are the best times to see the condors here – in the summer it’s more likely to see them in the Grand Canyon area.
There is a viewing scope at the site, but the optics are quite dusty and it is best to bring your own binoculars or spotting scope.
