It is found in Central America and North America.Bombus californicus is classified as Vulnerable by the IUCN.Bombus californicus was found to be endangered in 62% of surveyed areas.Bombus californicus has multiple possible color patterns of yellow and black. Bombus californicus appears very similar to Bombus fervidus.Bombus californicus nests in the ground, in wooded areas. Bombus californicus can also be found in urban areas.
