Multnomah-Wahkeena Falls Loop
Hiking
This loop trail was great! We started at the popular Multnomah falls area which was crowded with people. It’s a steep hike over paved trail up to the top off the falls, and packed with people the whole way. But, once we got to the top of the falls we veered off to the unpaved trail and left everyone behind. From that point the hike was nice and quiet and we encountered only a few other people–a huge change from the first part of the hike.
The unpaved trail is very well maintained and enjoyable. Along the way there a bunch of waterfalls in addition to the main attractions: Multnomah and Wahkeena at either end of the trail. The two main falls are no doubt impressive, but these ones in between are really nice too.
Overall, this was a relatively easy 6+ miles. Not too steep, over some really great trail. Would highly recommend getting passed the crowd at the Multnomah area and out on this trail for some really great sites and solitude.
