Fish Lake Hightop Plateau
Starting Place:
Junction of Fish Lake NF road 329 & 325
Fish Lake Hightop is a flat windswept plateau above 11,000 feet to the west of Fish Lake itself.
There are several trails to the top of the Fish Lake Hightop, this is probably the easiest of them as it doesn’t start at lake level some 2,500 feet below. A series of good dirt roads lead to the unmarked trailhead near Gahew Spring from where it is a moderate hike to the flat top itself. The actual summit at 11,633 feet is in an obvious pile of volcanic rocks, however the register takes some exploration to find and some scrambling to reach.
