Adirondack Paddle to Buck Island

Adirondack Paddle to Buck Island

Camping
This is a great half-day paddle each way from Floodwood Pond to Upper Saranac Lake. Numerous campsites are available along the way but Buck Island offers first-come first-serve campsites that feel much more secluded than predicted.
The paddle takes approximately three hours each way and offers numerous off-shoots or extensions. Starting from Floodwood Pond is the shorter paddle due to the flow of streams. Additionally, be on the lookout for flies. They are maddening at the put-in but subside once you get on the water and in mid-May the island was bug-free. Have gear packed before arriving to reduce exposure time.
