Starting Place:
Bear Brook Picnic Area
Exploring caves in Acadia national Park. The Bear Cave or Bears Den is not an official site but the map I created shows you how to locate the Bear Den. Just beyond the Bear Brook Picnic area along the One Way section of the Park Loop Road is a beaver pond on the right, and just past the pond is a pull over area at the curve up ahead. Park there, cross the road and walk in the same direction as the traffic, until the ledge wall ends by the woods. from the roadway looking into the woods you can see a large dark area - that is the opening to the Bear’s Den, located at the base of Champlain Mountain.
